About the Artist

Donna Prichard is a stained glass artist based in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Her work explores how stained glass can move beyond traditional flat panels into sculptural, dimensional forms that interact with light in new ways.

Working primarily with the copper foil method of stained glass, Donna creates freestanding glass sculptures built from carefully cut and layered pieces of art glass. Her signature work is a series of three-dimensional stained glass orchids, delicate botanical forms designed to capture the elegance and individuality of living plants.

In addition to her orchid sculptures, Donna creates abstract faces, garden art, and other sculptural pieces. Her work often incorporates materials outside of traditional stained glass, including copper piping, driftwood, and stone. These materials become integral elements in balanced sculptural compositions.

Donna is largely self-taught and has developed her practice through experimentation and the generous support of the studio community at Say It With Glass in Carrboro, North Carolina. Inspired by the color and luminosity of glass and the way light interacts with layered surfaces, her work invites viewers to reconsider their expectations of stained glass.

Each piece is handmade and unique, reflecting both the expressive possibilities of glass and the natural variation found in orchids themselves.
